    Geropotamos Beach (13km)

Geropotamos is located 18 km east of Rethymno and 3 km west of Panormo. It is named after the great river of Geropotamos that flows into the beach. The small beach is sandy with clear waters, while next to the beach the river forms a lake. It is organized with umbrellas, a restaurant and a beach bar. Despite the easy access, it is always quiet and generally not very crowded. However, the orientation of the beach makes it vulnerable to the frequent north winds that hit the coasts of Northern Crete during the summer months.

The wider area is very important, as birds and animals find shelter in the river. To the west of Geropotamos the coast is full of sea caves, in which rare Mediterranean monk seals live and peregrine nest.

I want to live the experience!
