    The picturesque town of Rethymno (20km)

    The Old Town of Rethymno is one of the most well-preserved Venetian districts of Crete. Its buildings date back to the 16th century and are excellent examples of traditional architecture.

    The Museum of Ancient Eleftherna (5km)

    The Museum of the Archaeological Site of ‘Eleftherna – Homer in Crete’, is the first museum of an archaeological site in Crete. Although smaller in size, it is equivalent to those of Olympia, Delphi and Vergina.

    Margarites Village (5km)

    Margarites took its name from a queen of Eleftherna, Margarita, who was so impressed by the amazing beauty of the place, that she sold her expensive jewelry, and ordered this settlement to be built in her honor.

    Arkadi Monastery (15km)

    The Monastery of Arkadi is a historical monastery in the area of the Community of Amnatos in the Municipality of Rethymno. The first form of the monastery is believed to have been built either during the period 961 BC to 1014 BC, or in the first years of Venetian rule.

    Melidoni Cave (15km)

    The Cave of Melidoni is located about 1,800 meters northwest of the village and is of interest because of its archaeological findings, some of which are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Rethymno.

    Panormos Tourist Resort (15km)

    Panormo of Mylopotamos is located about 20 km east of Rethymno. It is a quiet tourist resort, which has developed strongly in recent years, without having lost its traditional form.

    Geropotamos Beach (13km)

    Geropotamos is located 18 km east of Rethymno and 3 km west of Panormo. It is named after the great river of Geropotamos that flows into the beach.
