Panormo of Mylopotamos is located about 20 km east of Rethymno. It is a quiet tourist resort, which has developed strongly in recent years, without having lost its traditional form. The picturesqueness of the village, the beautiful sandy beaches located in the village and the easy access through the Northern Road Axis of Crete have contributed to this.
In Panormo there are two large beaches and some smaller ones. Panormo is a natural harbor with calm waters. Limanaki beach is in front of the village, under the ruins of Mylopotamos Castle, and serves the port of Panormos. It is sandy and has clear waters. It is ideal for children, as it is shallow, and is protected to the east by a pier, where the boats moor. It is organized, with umbrellas, showers, water sports and all the possibilities of accommodation around. Just next to it, to the east there is a smaller beach, not at all organized and less crowded.
